Timers and clocks

A countdown timer is usually a small device for one person or one job. A countdown clock is a large display meant to be read across a room — in a gym, a classroom, a studio or an event space. The two are often confused in search, so an inquiry should say which is meant.

Common uses

Kitchens, classrooms, gyms, presentations and production lines all use countdown displays. The difference is who reads it and from how far away. Display size, digit height and readability distance are the figures to confirm, and they are not stated on this site.
